This parent coaching workshop teaches families how to build language naturally through play and everyday routines. The workshop also discusses typical language development, language delays, bilingual language development, and when parents should consider a speech-language evaluation.

Building School Readiness Skills — Ages 3–5

Is your child ready for preschool or kindergarten? School readiness is about much more than knowing letters, numbers, colors, and shapes.

This parent workshop helps families understand the communication, social, emotional, and early learning skills children need to participate successfully in a classroom environment.

Parents will learn practical strategies to help their child develop skills such as following directions, answering questions, expressing wants and needs, participating in routines, taking turns, interacting with peers, attending to activities, building independence, and developing early literacy and pre-academic skills.

Parents will also learn what developmental skills are typically expected before entering school and how to identify areas where their child may benefit from additional support.

Parents will leave with simple activities and strategies they can practice at home to help make the transition to school more successful and less stressful.

Perfect for: Parents and caregivers of children ages 3–5 preparing for preschool, Pre-K, or kindergarten.
